CO2 laser skin resurfacing in Gdańsk

Facial rejuvenation with fractional CO₂ laser

Table of Contents

CO₂ laser skin resurfacing aims to improve facial skin texture and selected signs of ageing. At Tartaczna 2 Medical Centre in Gdańsk, we use a fractional CO₂ laser. The treatment area and intensity are matched to your skin and the recovery time you can plan for.

    How does fractional resurfacing work?

CO₂ laser energy is absorbed by water in the tissues. Fractional treatment creates tiny areas of controlled ablation and heating, separated by untreated skin. Healing stimulates tissue and collagen remodelling. This is an ablative procedure that disrupts the skin barrier and needs aftercare.

    What may improve?

    • Fine lines and uneven skin texture.
    • Selected signs of sun damage.
    • Some superficial irregularities and mild skin laxity.

Pigmented patches need assessment before treatment. Laser treatment is not appropriate for every dark spot; melasma, for example, may worsen. Significant sagging or excess skin cannot be corrected in the same way as with a surgical facelift.

    Who is suitable?

Suitability depends on examination, skin type, health conditions and medicines. Tell your doctor about cold sores, healing problems, isotretinoin and previous procedures. An infection, a tan or damaged skin may mean delaying treatment. Elective cosmetic procedures are deferred during pregnancy.

What happens during treatment and recovery?

The skin is cleansed, appropriate anaesthesia is used and the eyes are protected. Your doctor chooses the settings and treatment area. Redness, stinging, swelling and peeling are common afterwards; oozing and crusting can also occur.

Allow time for healing, typically from several days to about two weeks depending on treatment intensity. Redness may last longer. Follow your skin care instructions, avoid picking scabs, protect the skin from sunlight and wait until the appropriate healing stage before applying make-up.

    Results, sessions and risks

Results are assessed after healing, with collagen remodelling continuing over the following months. The number and spacing of sessions depend on the indication. Outcomes vary between people.

Complications include infection, cold sore reactivation, darker or lighter pigmentation, prolonged redness and scarring. Increasing pain or signs of infection need medical advice.
