Eight-point facelift with hyaluronic acid fillers

Table of Contents

An eight-point facelift is an approach to planning facial contour treatment with hyaluronic acid filler. The product is placed at selected support points to restore lost volume and improve proportions. It involves injections rather than surgical skin removal and does not produce the same result as a surgical facelift.

What do the eight points mean?

The name describes a placement concept, not a requirement to use exactly eight identical injection sites for everyone. Your doctor assesses the whole face and adapts the sites and amount of filler to your anatomy. The plan may focus on the cheeks and selected areas of the lower face.

This is one approach to facial volume restoration. Nose or tear trough filler is not automatically included and requires a separate assessment.

    When might it be considered?

    • Age-related loss of cheek volume.
    • Contour changes associated with reduced tissue support.
    • Selected proportional imbalances that may improve by adding volume.

Filler may not be suitable for marked laxity or excess skin. Too much product can make the face look heavy, so treatment should match the actual concern.

    Preparation and the procedure

Discuss previous fillers, health conditions, medicines, allergies and dental procedures. Pregnancy, breastfeeding, an active infection or an allergy to an ingredient requires avoiding or postponing elective treatment. Other contraindications are assessed individually.

After preparing the skin, the doctor injects filler using a needle or cannula, with appropriate anaesthesia when needed. Pain and pressure can occur. No injection technique completely removes the risk of complications.

    Results and aftercare

Added volume may be visible immediately, but the outcome should be assessed after swelling settles. Results are temporary and depend on the product, treatment area and individual factors. Further treatment is considered after reassessment.

Avoid pressure, strenuous exercise and excessive heat for the period advised. Do not massage injection sites unless instructed. Bruising, swelling, tenderness, lumps and asymmetry can occur.

    Filler safety

A rare but serious complication is blockage of a blood vessel, which can cause skin necrosis, visual disturbance or loss of sight. Sudden severe pain, skin blanching or mottled discolouration, and any change in vision require immediate medical attention.
