sports injuries / arthritis

Table of Contents

Passing time and degenerative joint disease, intensive sports and injuries, physical work... All these contribute to joint damage that adversely influence daily life performance. Flexibility and range of movement get reduced, and numbness and pain occur.

Are you suffering from these ailments?

Explore the possibilities of therapies with the use of the innovative Arthrex® ACP platelet rich plasma extraction method. The most advanced commercially available method of self-regeneration and joint reconstruction, using platelet rich plasma from your own blood - is now available to patients of the Tartaczna 2 Medical Centre in Gdańsk.

How is platelet rich plasma used in orthopaedics?

Regeneration and healing of a joint after an injury, inflammation or degenerative joint disease is a long-term process for the body. Thrombocytes, i.e. blood platelets, are the main factors involved in this process. They are responsible for releasing growth factor that stimulates reconstruction of damaged tissue and inhibits inflammatory processes

Platelet rich plasma obtained with the Arthrex® ACP method is characterised by a high concentration of blood platelets. It is used to treat diseases and injuries of the knees, hips, feet, shoulders or hands.

Administration and activation of highly-concentrated platelets increases the release of the growth factor. It significantly speeds up wound healing, inflammation treatment, repair of damaged tissues and pain alleviation.

Arthrex - treatment of degenerative joint disease

Do you want to stay physically active into the old age?

Do you want to slow down or even stop progression of degenerative disease?

The Arthrex® ACP platelet rich plasma therapy is recommended for advanced, moderately severe and mild cases of degenerative joint disease/arthrosis grades 1-3.

It also brings very good results in cases of tendon inflammations.

The “pulling” and stiffness sensation that usually accompanies degenerative joint disease, as well as start-up pain, especially in the morning, disappear. The joint cartilage is renewed, elasticity is restored and range of motion is increased.

Why should I choose Arthrex PRP ACP treatment?

Arthrex® ACP (Conditioned Autologous Plasma) is currently the most advanced method of collection and preparation of platelet rich plasma used for treatment. It is perfectly tolerated by the body and completely safe - the body undergoes a self-healing process based on its own platelets.

Arthrex® uses an innovative system of two integrated syringes in a closed system to collect and separate the plasma. A dual syringe facilitates collection and separation of extremely efficient plasma with the highest purity parameters, platelet concentration - up to 250% higher than other products available on the market. And all this without the use of chemical activators or anticoagulants.

    • The highest concentration of growth factors: from 2.5-3 times higher than in case of other methods.

    • Growth factors are released in the patient's body, not in a syringe.

    • A painless procedure - the only product on the market without chemical activators and anticoagulants.

    • Safe treatment (autologous therapy) - no side effects, allergic reactions and allergies.

    • Medical system from the renowned company, Arthrex®.

What does the Arthrex® procedure look like?

    • Collection of blood from a patient vein - approx. 15 ml.

    • Transfer of the material in a closed system to an internal syringe for centrifugation.

    • Separation of the material into a concentrated preparation.

    • Local anaesthesia of the skin with cream at the site of injection.

    • Injection of the preparation into the damaged area.

Procedure time – up to 30 minutes

How should I prepare for the Arthrex® procedure?

Platelet rich plasma Arthrex ACP treatment does not require any special preparation. Like in case of other injection treatments, you must not take blood-thinning or anticoagulant drugs.

    Contraindications to Arthrex® treatment

Arthrex® therapy is not recommended for pregnant and breastfeeding women, individuals suffering from blood disorders, during oncological treatment and those who are continuously taking anticoagulants.
