An orthopaedic specialist in Gdańsk assesses and treats conditions affecting bones, joints, muscles, tendons and ligaments. At Tartaczna 2 Medical Centre, adult consultations are provided by Dr Krzysztof Gawroński, a specialist in orthopaedics and traumatology. We help patients with injuries, overuse problems and degenerative conditions, as well as people returning to activity after treatment.
When should you see an orthopaedic specialist?
Consider a consultation if pain, swelling or reduced movement interferes with daily activities, work or sport. Recurrent symptoms and problems that persist after an injury also need assessment.
- Pain in the knee, hip, shoulder, elbow, wrist or foot.
- Overuse problems affecting muscles and tendons, and sports injuries.
- Joint stiffness and symptoms of osteoarthritis.
- Numbness in the fingers, reduced grip strength and suspected carpal tunnel syndrome.
- A review of previous treatment and advice on returning to activity.
Orthopaedic consultation and investigations
Your doctor will ask about symptoms, previous injuries, physical demands at work and exercise. The examination includes assessment of the painful area, movement and limb function, together with a review of existing test results. Depending on the suspected cause, an X-ray, ultrasound, MRI or other investigations may be recommended. Joint pain does not always require extensive imaging at the outset.
Bring previous reports and any available diagnostic images, treatment records and a list of your medicines. Tell your doctor about long-term conditions, allergies and anticoagulant medicines.
Treatment for pain and reduced function
Your treatment plan depends on the diagnosis, the severity of symptoms and your goals. It may include changes to activity, appropriate exercises and physiotherapy, medicines, a brace or assessment for a procedure. In selected cases, joint aspiration or injection treatment may be considered after discussing the potential benefits, limitations and risks.
Platelet-rich plasma treatment in orthopaedics
Our services include platelet-rich plasma (PRP) treatment using the Arthrex system. PRP is prepared from the patient's own blood. In appropriately selected patients, it may help reduce pain and improve function in certain conditions. Results depend on the diagnosis; PRP does not guarantee cartilage regeneration or a complete cure and does not replace prescribed rehabilitation.
Carpal tunnel surgery under WALANT local anaesthesia
Dr Krzysztof Gawroński performs carpal tunnel release under WALANT local anaesthesia at our centre. The procedure relieves pressure on the median nerve. The patient remains awake and no tourniquet is used. A consultation is required to assess suitability for surgery. Preparation and recovery are explained on the dedicated service page.
