Care for the mother-to-be is particularly important during this special period and the extraordinary experience of welcoming a child into the world. A midwife plays a very important role in caring for a pregnant woman. She helps the family adapt to the changes associated with pregnancy, childbirth and the postpartum period. Care is individualised and tailored to the pregnant woman’s needs.

At Tartaczna 2 Medical Centre, midwifery care supports expectant mothers in preparing for childbirth and caring for their baby.

How do midwives and obstetricians work together?

Midwives and obstetricians are highly qualified and experienced professionals, but their areas of focus differ somewhat. Your obstetrician is responsible for your overall health and wellbeing during pregnancy and for managing any complications that may arise.

The midwife reports her observations and any concerns arising during regular check-ups to the obstetrician, who then assesses the information and adjusts the pregnancy or birth plan accordingly. During the postpartum period, the midwife helps with breastfeeding and newborn care.
